What we do
Born from the realisation that the rapid growth in the construction sector would require commensurate operational capacity and business savvy to best position the group to take advantage of bigger and more complex projects, The Group Five Academy was launched in August 2006.
To ensure an integrated approach to human capital development, this in-house corporate university. The Group Five Academy, was established to provide learning and development opportunities to all employees in the group across all business units.

Skills Development & Bursary Management
- Construction Skills Training Academy (Kgoro ya Tsholofelo)
In a public-private partnership with the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Group Five established a skills training centre in Midrand to act as a developer of skills capacity for the construction industry.
The Construction Skills Training Academy (CSTA) provides facilities and training that ensures sustainable employment in the construction industry. The training centre has CETA approval and there are currently three experienced trainers on site to take care of learners. It caters for Group Five employees, as well as unemployed people from Diepsloot and surrounding communities.
The centre also acts as the initiation phase for students currently on bursary programmes.
- Learnerships
A number of learnerships are run at business unit level and these are dependent on identified needs. Learnerships conducted in the last year include; construction supervision, autotronics, heavy fabrication, bricklaying, plastering and carpentry.
