Group Five has been running learnerships since 2006 for both employed and unemployed people. Examples of learnerships during the year include:
Eighteen disabled learners were selected for this programme by Group Five. The learnership covered topics such as information handling, customer service, and communication.
The programme affords learners the opportunity to integrate people with disabilities in the administration function in the workplace. The 12 month programme incorporated six months of classroom training and six months of experiential training.
Generic Management (for employees)
This programme offers learners to develop skills that will enable them to become junior managers. It is aimed at employees who intend to follow a career in management.

Internships provide a true work experience, giving students the chance to enhance their employability and career prospects. This 12-month programme promotes opportunities for professional development on construction-related qualifications.
Internships will be rolled out in the near future under the banner of The Academy. Application details will be provided in due course.
In-service training formally integrates a student’s academic studies with work experience. This programme aims to provide opportunities to tertiary students to complete their required practical training.
Group Five considers taking on students from universities of technology for on-site in service training to enable them to complete their compulsory one-year practical experience.
A minimum requirement for students wishing to pursue in any of the fields listed below is 60% in both Maths and Science:
- B Sc/ B.Tech. Civil
- B Sc/ B. Tech. Quantity Surveying
- B Sc/ B. Tech Construction Management
- B Sc/ B. Tech Mechanical Engineering
- B Sc/ B. Tech Electrical Engineering
- National Diploma in Construction and related disciplines
